MogoBlog MogoLicious Tasty Tip of the Day: This cake has a mild root beer flavor since it is made with vanilla cake mix. Add a scoop of ice cream on top for a richer cake, but it is plenty rich enough and tasted so good without any other add-on. This super fun summer project would be ideal for a rainy day, or heck, just a day you want to hang out in the kitchen!
Root Beer Float Cake-in-a-Jar
Ingredients:
- 1 box white cake mix
- 1 1/4 cups root beer
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 egg whites
- 1 container whipped vanilla frosting
- vanilla ice cream, optional
Directions (make in your MogoBox Mug):
- Preheat the oven to 350° F. Lightly oil the inside of 6 half-pint glass jars.
- Whisk the cake mix, root beer, vegetable oil, and egg whites until smooth and light. Divide the batter evenly amongst the jars so they are each about 3/4 full. Place the jars on a baking sheet and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cake is done and a tester inserted into the middle comes out clean.
- Carefully move the hot jars to a wire rack to cool. When they are at room temperature, top each one with a thick layer of vanilla frosting. Serve!
