Root Beer Float Cake-in-a-Jar

MogoBlog MogoLicious Tasty Tip of the Day:   This cake has a mild root beer flavor since it is made with vanilla cake mix. Add a scoop of ice cream on top for a richer cake, but it is plenty rich enough and tasted so good without any other add-on. This super fun summer project would be ideal for a rainy day, or heck, just a day you want to hang out in the kitchen!

Root Beer Float Cake-in-a-Jar

Ingredients:

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups root beer
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 container whipped vanilla frosting
  • vanilla ice cream, optional

Directions (make in your MogoBox Mug):

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Lightly oil the inside of 6 half-pint glass jars.
  2. Whisk the cake mix, root beer, vegetable oil, and egg whites until smooth and light. Divide the batter evenly amongst the jars so they are each about 3/4 full. Place the jars on a baking sheet and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cake is done and a tester inserted into the middle comes out clean.
  3. Carefully move the hot jars to a wire rack to cool. When they are at room temperature, top each one with a thick layer of vanilla frosting. Serve!
