Spiced Black Tea

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1-inch piece peeled fresh ginger
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 3-inch tick cinnamon
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • Lemon slices (optional)
  • Cinnamon sticks (optional)

Directions:

  1. In large saucepan combine water, sugar, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and star anise.
  2. Bring to boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar. Boil for 1 minute.
  3. Remove from heat and strain.
  4. Return mixture to saucepan.
  5. Add tea bags.
  6. Steep 10 minutes.
  7. Remove tea bags.
  8. Stir in pomegranate juice and lemon juice.
  9. Return to heat; heat through.
  10. Serve with lemon slices and cinnamon sticks.

Stand Time:  10 minutes
